About Me

My photo
Welcome to the travels of Doug and Nada. We love the Lord and are traveling full-time in our motorhome with our German Shepherd, Homer. Homer is the star attraction wherever we stop and he gets us talking and sharing with many people. DON'T FORGET: YOU CAN ENLARGE EACH PHOTO BY CLICKING ON THE PHOTO! The newest blog post is at the top and they go back in time as you scroll down. If you want to see each photo larger, you can just click on the photo and it will enlarge. If you decide to leave a comment, don't forget to sign it so we know who left it. ;-) Folks: This site is under continual construction as we travel and see this beautiful country. Check back for more updates and photos. Thanks for visiting with us! May God bless your day!

Scenes from our winter spot - Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort

Here is our home until March 1st - Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort. It is south of Mission, Texas. If you click on our travel map and zoom way-in, you can see the unique circle design of the campground. If you click on the "satellite view" you can even see our campsite. The center of each circle has an activity center such as a clubhouse, Paylas for activities including one with outdoor pool tables. The fitness center is at the southern end of the resort. We are less than a mile from the Rio Grande River. Between us and the river is the Bentsen Palm/Rio Grande State Park and the National Birding Center. Down the road a 1/2 mile is the North American Butterfly Center. We have signed up to volunteer at the Birding Center and will be attending an orientation later this week.

Above, Homer is waiting patiently while Doug unfolds our bikes so we can take a bike ride. You can see the distance view below. There are birds and butterflies everywhere here! It is so beautiful!

Above and below are views of the pool and the spa.

Above, looking across our circle. The club house is on the right and you might be able to make out our motorhome under the mesquite trees just to the left of center.

Scenes around the park. The one payla is visible in the center of the circle in the photo above. Below is the fitness center. The resort is only 1/4 full at this time. In the next two weeks it should start filling up and then stay at filled capacity until March. The organized activities and Bible study should be starting after the 15th of the month.

The above photo shows three of the Casitas - One-bedroom apartments which they rent in addition to the RV sites. They are beautiful inside with slate floors in both the living and bedroom and marble counters in the kitchen. They share a lush courtyard in the middle.

We experienced our first sugar cane burn today. We were thankful that the wind was blowing the smoke and fallout (the black smelling residue "rain") away from us.
