Rio Grande Bird Festival - Raptor Project

The Raptor Project at the Rio Grande Birding Festival. The main reason we went was so we could see raptors that we have watched soaring over the years up close.
I never knew owls were so soft and cuddly. Notice how Tiger has snuggled in to Doug above. She was sooooo soft and silky feeling and those eyes looking straight at you.....

Uncle Sam, the bald eagle, with such a stately presence

Three kinds of owls above. The top one is a Screech Owl. Since it was day, they just wanted to sleep as the Barn Owl was doing on his perch below.

Other raptors sitting on their perches.

Views of the Raptor Project's booth at the Festival. He also had perches sitting out in the aisle in front of the tables.

Below is the Golden Eagle.

A Perigrine Falcon

Above, the Golden Eagle's about to fly back to her perch.

The outside flying demonstration with the falcon. She was too fast for me to get with my camera - I should have put it on the multiple shutter but I didn't and just enjoyed the show. In the first photo the bird's head is covered which calms them.

She caught the decoy and got her reward above. Then back inside, she gets her big treat to eat on her perch below.
