My photo
Welcome to the travels of Doug and Nada. We love the Lord and are traveling full-time in our motorhome with our German Shepherd, Homer. Homer is the star attraction wherever we stop and he gets us talking and sharing with many people. DON'T FORGET: YOU CAN ENLARGE EACH PHOTO BY CLICKING ON THE PHOTO! The newest blog post is at the top and they go back in time as you scroll down. If you want to see each photo larger, you can just click on the photo and it will enlarge. Lady Liberty

After spending part of the past weekend speaking at the NJ Homeschool Convention, we drove to northern Jersey to a campground where we will spend the next two weeks. Doug will be selling aerial photos during this time. Today we took the day off and did the tourist thing. He actually humored his wife who wanted to go to Liberty State Park. It is on the NJ side of New York harbor and was just 40 miles east of where we are camped. We had visited here back in 1985 prior to flying out of Newark Airport for England. At that time they were just planting trees and starting to make a park of the place. Back then, Lady Liberty was all encased in scaffolding as they were getting her ready for her 100th birthday. Boy, have they done a beautiful job with this park! I took a photo of the diagram of the park. The trees are all grown and there is a huge picnic grove. There is a wide walkway along the water front which goes from Liberty State Park past the Statue of Liberty, past Ellis Island, and up the river a short distance.

You can look right over to Manhattan. It was the first that we had seen the skyline in person without the twin towers (the second photo at the top). The day was lovely - Actually, Homer's tongue was really hanging out by the time we walked up the walkway and back to Liberty Park in the sunshine. We forgot to bring water along on the walk. We need to get Homer one of those doggy backpacks so he can carry his own bowl and water!!! Thanks for stopping in and sharing in our travels. Hope you stop back again!
